Defective TiresLawyers Serving All of Georgia & Alabama

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company recalled itsFortera HL P255/65R18 109S tires manufactured November 30, 2014, to January 10, 2015.The reason for the recall is the tires suffered cracking of the thread during endurance testing. The tires failed to comply with theFederal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, which are designed to keep consumers safe from faulty motor vehicle products. The possible consequence is the tires may fail and cause a crash.

The scariestpart of this recall is that these defective tires were installed as original equipment byGeneral Motorson 2015 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Acadia models. According to Goodyear, there are over 48,000 affected tires on vehicles around the world. General Motors is taking charge of this recall for their affected vehicles by replacing the tires free of charge.

WhyareDefective Tires on the Roads?

It is simply amazing that a worldwide tire manufacturer let defective tires hit the market and be placed on so many vehicles. Tires are literally where the rubber meets the road. They are some of the most important safety pieces on a car or truck. Without a properly designed tire on a motor vehicle, they become vessels of injury or death.
